Written by: Jim Chiappelli Some sprint car fans in central Pennsylvania are preparing for an aerobatics assault. Tyler Walker is bringing his swagger, all-out driving style, and perhaps his celebratory backflips to the Keystone State. The reigning King of California, who won a record nine A-features in the Golden State Challenge Series last season, will not stick around to defend his crown. Rather, he is heading east to become the lead driver of the Heffner Racing Enterprise number-27 sprinter in the team’s sophomore season. “I really miss the big and fast tracks and look forward to being back in a more competitive series,” Walker said in a statement posted on his website. “I can’t wait to join the PA Posse and see the longtime fans I have in Pennsylvania. They’re the best fans in the country,” added the driver nicknamed T-Dub. Walker, the 2002 Gumout Series champion, replaces Sean Michael, who was sidelined for much of the team’s rookie season because of a shattered kneecap sustained in a crash. National Sprint Car Hall of Fame member Keith Kauffman filled-in for Michael, who may drive select races for Heffner in 2010. Team owner Mike Heffner is excited about Walker’s arrival. “He is enthusiastic, aggressive, and wants to win as much as we do,” Heffner stated. In central Pennsylvania, Walker and his team will have the opportunity to compete at storied half-mile ovals such as Williams Grove Speedway and Port Royal Speedway as well as the tighter Lincoln Speedway.
